Parameters Set by Pollution Control Board before Discharging Effluent-

After treatment of waste water, before discharging it must meet all the parameters. The prescribed limit or acceptable level of concentration of impurities or pollutants is laid down by the local authorities such as municipality or State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) or Central Pollution Control Board of India. The final discharge of waste water will normally be either into the body of water or onto the land. The receiving bodies of water may be streams, lakes, ponds, canal, rivers, seas, estuaries, etc.

    • Stage I : Duplication of primary digestor Plant and extension of power house.
    • Stage II : Extension of sewage treatment plant

  • Chemicals and Media

    Much of wastewater produced today is contaminated with both soluble and insoluble impurities such as suspended solids, organics, pathogens, metals, nutrients and other priority pollutants that must be removed prior to discharge back into the environment.

    • pH adjustment chemicals (to adjust pH level of treated water)

      alkaline chemicals: CaO (calcium oxide or lime), MgO (magnesium oxide), Ca (OH) (calcium hydroxide), Mg (OH) (magnesium hydroxide) acidic chemicals: Sulfuric acid (H2S04), Hydrochloric acid (HCl)

    • Coagulant chemicals

      Ferric Chloride, Aluminium Chloride (AlCl3), Aluminium Sulphate [Al2(SO4)3] and Ferric Chloride (FeCl3).

    • Flocculent chemicals

      Anionic polymers, Non-ionic polymers, Cationic polymers

    It is in the last stage in the pre-treatment of water for removal of undissolved impurities prior to treatment by Ion Exchange or by Reverse Osmosis. Coagulation, flocculation and clarification precede filtration.
