The primary goal of an STP is to remove contaminants, pollutants, and harmful microorganisms from the sewage to ensure that the treated water does not cause environmental pollution and is safe for discharge or reuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How sewage treatment plant works:<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Preliminary Treatment<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Large solid objects like sticks, leaves, and debris are removing from the incoming wastewater using screens and grit chambers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This step helps prevent damage to downstream equipment and ensures that the treatment process is efficient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Primary Treatment<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The wastewater flows into settling tanks or clarifiers, where the flow velocity is reducing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heavy solids and particles settle to the bottom, forming a layer of sludge, while lighter materials like grease and oils float to the surface.
